By Russell Jackson
Writers from the west of Scotland have produced acclaimed collection of work aimed at dispelling myths about "hoodies".Oor Ain Toon features short stories, poetry and reflective memoirs by two groups of new writers. The collection tackles the fears of commumities concerning young people and looks at the possiblity that many worries about youth disorder and "Hoodies" Are not grounded on fact.
The project, designed to attract budding writers of all ages, saw two groups from Airdrie - Men with Pens and Awesome Authorettes - take part in tutotials before recording their thoughts and experiences. The works were results from hard-hitting to the poignant, spanning themes from love and loss, success and failure, to cruelty and kindness.
A spokesman for the project, which is backed with funding from North Lanarkshire Council and the Executive, said: "Its an imaginative attempt to cut suspicion between generations"
